Take a pleasant walk or drive through Storm Lake and see the unique tree sculptures that are popping up around the community. Storm Lake chainsaw artist Jeff Klatt has turned the trunks of dead trees into unusual sculptures in the parks, along trails, and at local businesses and homes. His works capture wildlife, Native American scenes, angels, trolls, and even comical characters.

Come every year and see the additions and watch Jeff in action as he adds fun and whimsy to Storm Lake, one tree at a time!

Free and Open to the Public

Located in Sunset Park, the Storm Lake Heritage Tree Museum is a unique educational and recreational attraction for residents and visitors alike. The museum is an eclectic collection of trees that have their heritage in the history of the United States and the world.

Summer and Fall Seasons—Best Time to Visit
This attraction is free and open to the public throughout the year, with the best times to visit during the summer and fall. Each tree has an informational plaque with a brief history of the tree and its lineage.

Virtual and Audio Tours
We invite you to spend some time traveling back in history as told through the leaves and branches of the Heritage Tree Museum trees.

This 1875 home is listed on the National Historic Register and a great example of how the more influential families lived in the early days of Storm Lake. The home contains 95% of the original family contents of the Harker Family who built the home in 1875.

Tours are available during regular touring hours on the weekends or by special appointment.

Take the time to step back into history at the Buena Vista County Historical Society Museum and Pioneer Village. The museum offers static displays as well as annual special displays for visitors year round. They also maintain a historic Log Home and One Room Schoolhouse for public tours.

Witter Gallery is an art gallery displaying rotating art exhibits. The Witter Gallery also offers youth and adult programs.

AWAYSIS Park is just west of King's Pointe Resort and includes a family playground, swimming beach, picnic area, and lighthouse. The newly redesigned Kolb Gardens is also featured, so walk along the lake trail and enjoy the view.
